Back again and Happy Thanksgiving

Hello there everybody and Happy Thanksgiving! Hope you all had a wonderful evening eating and being thankful, surrounded by loved ones!

This year I included the Friends cast as "loved ones"

I apologize for the lack of posts in the last couple of weeks, what with Thanksgiving happening so quickly after I got back from vacation and now getting ready for the holidays it's been a bit busy over here in casa de Megan.

To get you updated on the past couple of weeks:

-I'm happy so say that my house is all holiday'd up which makes me so happy. I'll be sure and share photos soon.

-Most of my holiday gifts are purchased (thank you cyber Monday and November vacations!)

-I've been crafting it up this holiday season and can't wait to show you guys some of the stuff I've been making

-I have also been cooking up some awesome stuff in the kitchen, including a FULLY homemade pumpkin pie (scraped out a pumpkin and everything). Some delicious hot cocoa with homemade whipped cream and more

I can't wait to share all of it with you and then some in the coming weeks! Hope you have an awesome weekend - supposedly this is the weekend you're supposed to get your Christmas tree (if that's something you do) so hope you all enjoy trimming (a glass of wine always helps)!

DIY Fall Decor: The Ghost Frame

After a long weekend of celebrating I decided to keep it simple today and share with you one of my Halloween DIY decor items that I made last year. It's one of those pieces that was SO easy to make and yet I get compliments on it all the time.

So without any further ado allow me to introduce you to the Ghost Frame:

Like I said before - this was the easiest thing to make and would look super cute on a fireplace mantel... alas if only I had one.

I bought the frame at the Goodwill and when I got home I just removed the image and backing that came with it and secured the glass to the frame - in some cases this may require hot glueing but with mine you can see the little tabs just closed around the glass.

Then I got a large piece of white construction paper and drew out a ghost shape - I liked these ones with wing-like arms because they added a little more character and body to the shapes. Then I lay the shapes out on the frame deciding which direction I wanted each of them to face before drawing the three small black dots to create their tiny and adorable screaming faces.

Then I glued the ghosts to the FRONT of the glass - I felt like this helped to create the "box frame" look and creates an eerie shadow behind the ghosts. This also eliminated my need for fancy sure-fire clear glue allowing me to use just my standard hot glue gun.

And Voila! Done. Like I said super easy and creates a fun impact on your decor!

Obviously the same strategy could be used for loads of shapes too and I'm sure this one would look super cool on a painted wall (but alas I rent). So to all you DIYers let me know if you try it out! I'd love to see some other versions!

H&M Home

You may have noticed that I've missed a few posts recently and for that I'm super sorry - Fall has already been very busy and on top of it all I've developed a cold - blehh

So early last week I went on an exploration for the perfect fall shoes and found something even better - the Newbury Street H&M and their awesome home goods section. It was INCREDIBLE. As I've previously told you all I love all things home goods, but it's usually hard to find affordable and on trend items. UNTIL NOW!

Per usual H&M practice, everything was priced so affordably - and they had everything! Pillows, table cloths, duvet covers, bath towels and so much more - as with their clothes nothing was made of the worlds best quality but for $5- $30 one can't really complain. I was so blown away by their selection of rustic and awesome looking pieces I probably spent upwards of 45 minutes perusing the space. I think I was most appreciative of the numerous and wide array of designs for throw pillow cases at affordable prices, considering pillows are always so expensive it was awesome to find some that I liked the look of and could also afford. I ended up buying three!

1. Bird Cage Pillow Cover $9.95 // 2. Gray and White Pillow Cover $12.95
// 3. Flour Sack Pillow Cover $5.95

Wish List: New Throw Pillows

One of my favorite ways to redecorate for the seasons is by changing up the throw pillows on our couch - it's such an easy and quick update that can make a big statement on the theme and feel of the room. These days I have my eye on these awesome pillows with gold accents to pair well both together and with my bright red couch. Not to mention an awesome take on fall and autumn shades.

1. West Elm $39 // 2. CB2 $29.95 // 3. Anthropologie $168 (alright a bit out of my price range... but so cute!)

What do you think? Do you switch up your throw pillows often or do you change other elements instead?

Also I apologize for this post being a day late to post... I'm working hard to not fall behind -but nobodies perfect.

State Pride

When I was 18 the only place on the East Coast I had any interest in living was New York, then I spent five years living there and never felt like it was "my state." Now just one year into living in Massachusetts and I feel like I'm at home. I know there are tons of reasons why this is but frankly I don't care too much about the reasons, just the fact that it's true.

Of course the only downside is now when I see all the fun new "I love my state" products - I have no idea which ones I want to get! The state I grew up in or the state I live in - since now I have two places I'm proud and happy to call home (not really such a downside after all).

1 & 4 Vestiges $15.00 // 2 & 3 The Home T $30.00 & $28.00 // 5 Teespring $39.95
I love each of these pieces so much - the adorable Vestiges Tea Towels which would actually be cute to have in a variety of states - maybe one of each state you've visited making for a great conversation starter with guests. I also love the shirts just to rep some state pride perhaps at a lazy hungover Sunday brunch.

As for the sweatshirt, unlike the other's this doesn't come in every state and is obviously VERY specific to my case (and apparently a few others) in fact you can't even purchase the sweater any more as they were only available for a limited time but if enough of us sign up saying we want the design available again then they'll reopen it for purchase - so all those CA girls living in an MA world sign up now!

So ya'll what do you think? Do you feel a pride for the state you live in? The state you grew up in? Both? Neither?

Desk Inspiration Shots

For anyone who's seen my closet-sized bedroom you know that it's FAR too small to house a desk. Which I've accepted. Mostly. It doesn't mean that I don't still get envious when I see some of the beautiful and enviously comfortable images of desks that are out there. Today's post is just me sharing my desk inspirations and dreams - enjoy!

Victoria is one of my favorite bloggers and has some of the best taste I've seen so it's no surprise that her desk is the basis of my dreams.

Another unbelievably talented and beautiful blogger, Rachel Parcell has outdone herself with this elegant and feminine desk - I love the white and gold with hints of pink!

Wish List: Home Decor

Recently I've been on a home goods kick - and it doesn't help that the newest edition of HGTV Magazine just came out. As a result today's "Wish List" post veers a little from the usual and features three awesome decorative pieces that I've come across in my online window shopping - Enjoy!

1. Wayfair.com $24.00 // 2. Restoration Hardware $79.00 // 3. Wayfair.com $79.12
Each of these would be such an awesome addition and statement piece on any bookshelf. I also like that they are each a fairly neutral color so they could work year round and match with any other more colorful home pieces or decorations (for instance I have a bright red couch, so I constantly have to think about the colors of other pieces I bring into the room).

Additionally, I tried to feature items with a slight range of theme from rustic to modern chic. I think that, despite my looking forward to decorating my own place, I am going to be truly boggled as to having to pick a single "look" or feel to a place - there are so many different styles that I adore. But I'll cross that bridge when I get to it - it's a long ways off.

Memorial Day/Summer Decor

From Better Homes & Gardens

Growing up, my mom did a lot of holiday decorating around our house. Whether it be for some of the more traditional holidays such as Easter, Christmas or Halloween or some of the more obscure, such as Memorial Day or Saint Patrick's Day there were always a TON the house was always covered. As a result, I've never felt that a house could truly be a home until there were an abundance of holiday decorations. And now, for the first time ever I live in an apartment that I can decorate galore!

So I have to admit that the prospect of decorating for Summer and more specifically Memorial Day has got me VERY excited. I can't wait to stock up on some RW&B decor and get them around the house - and the best part is that these decorations can stay up through the entire summer (I mean Red, White and Blue just screams sunshine and fun) plus after Memorial Day, Independence Day is right around the corner and then Labor Day (and really nothing in between) so it only makes sense to leave 'em all out!

While I still have a shopping list 100 feet long there are a few staples I know I'll be putting out ASAP such as a homemade wreath (which I'll have to feature on here soon), american flags EVERYWHERE, and we're definitely buying a grill and some tiki torches for our patio.

What do you think?  Do you decorate for Memorial Day? Any must have Memorial decorations you suggest?
